Andrew McKee, age 16, with two brothers, weavers by trade, landed at Boston in 1707. Soon after his marriage, he moved to East Hartford, Conn., settled 8 miles east of Old Hartford City and became a farmer. It is supposed that the other brothers settled in Virginia and Kentucky. His father was Scotch, a chief among men, and his mother was Irish. In 1732, they were living in the Elbow Tract, Hampshire Co. and McKee was one of the number who petitioned the General Court in that year that the Homesteads they were occupying might be confirmed to them. He was granted 100 acres. In 1736 he sold his estate in Kingsfield. At that time he had a wife, Mary.
